My Story

Ime Oka was born out of one of the most harrowing chapters of my life. On March 20, 2023, after nearly two years of unanswered questions, I was diagnosed with cancer. Sitting in the treatment chair for the first time, I whispered a phrase that would carry me through it all: “I’m Ok.” At first, it was a lifeline. Part truth, part hope. Over the next six months, it became an anchor.

During treatment, I turned to art… not with rules or expectations, but as a way to process emotion in its rawest, most unfiltered form. What began as quiet sketching in a chemo chair slowly evolved into a powerful creative practice rooted in vulnerability and resilience.

Now, "I’m Ok" has grown from a mantra into a mission. Through abstract forms, layered textures, and hidden imagery, I explore the full spectrum of human emotion; the beauty in breaking, the power in rebuilding, and the quiet triumph of simply continuing on. My work is a meditation on healing, identity, and the silent battles we all carry.
